Study of Phytochemical Constituent and Biological Activities of Methanolic Extract of Rhizomes of Neopicrorhiza scrophulariiflora and Roots of Rheum australe collected from the Alpine Region of Nepal

Rhizomes of Neopicrorhiza scrophularii flora and roots Rheum australe were collected from the alpine regions Jumla district Nepal. The phytochemical analysis methanolic extract these plants revealed presence polyphenols, flavonoids, quinones, saponins, tannins. total phenolic flavonoid content in extracts N. scrophulariiflora estimated to be 141.27±1.414 mg GAE/gm 43.48±5.476 QE/gm respectively that R. austral 101.54±4.061 24.97±2.857 respectively. A brine shrimp lethality test was performed with against nauplii results high toxicity towards LC50 values 173.78μg/mL 257.03μg/mL showed strongest DPPH radical scavenging activity IC50 value 57.49 μg/mL comparison whose determined 68.91μg/mL, ascorbic acid taken as standard 49.05μg/ml. In α-amylase inhibition assay, exhibited strong 140.67μg/mL while mild 192.88μg/mL. All biological studies is more active than extract. Column chromatography 50 % fraction further subjected FTIR GC-MS analysis. various compounds among them, 13 major identified.
